The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed on an ordinary rosary, but the prayers said on the beads differ from those of the rosary. How the Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed
The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is prayed on an ordinary rosary. On the crucifix comes the Sign of the Cross, and on the tail beads the Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and the Apostles' Creed. Then, on the large bead before each decade: “Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son…”, and on each of the ten small beads: “For the sake of his sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.”
Five decades are prayed this way. After the fifth comes “Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world” three times, then the closing invocations: “O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in you!” and “Jesus, I trust in you!” three times.
Unlike the rosary, the chaplet has no mysteries and does not change with the day of the week — it is the same every day. That is precisely why the beads are easy to lose track of, so in Holymeet each bead carries its own text and shows how far you have come.
